Taking Your Body Back
Physical Rehabilitation Services
celebrates 20 years of caring for patients
After tearing one of her major knee ligaments, the ACL, Cranberry resident Lisa Morris knew that reconstructive surgery was inevitable. Following surgery, Lisa completed her rehabilitation at PRS. "I was not looking forward to therapy," shared Lisa. "My time and experience at PRS was enjoyable and really helped me to get back on my feet again. The entire staff was so supportive and encouraging. I feel great!"
Twenty years ago, physical therapists Bill and Mary Butch opened PRS with the intention of providing an independently-run rehabilitation practice to local residents that offered something large institutions and corporate chains couldn't: high-touch, individual care to patients. "We wanted to be an integral part of the community, providing care and developing relationships with the local residents who needed rehabilitation services," explains Bill and Mary. "Our practice grew as previous patients returned and shared their positive experience with family and friends." Today, PRS is celebrating its 20th Anniversary of caring for patients.
Physical therapy treats the musculoskeletal system: bones, muscles, tendons, joints, ligaments and the interaction with physical movement and is a very important of recovery. But physical therapy does not only help the body recover, it is also considered a valuable asset in managing severe diseases, such as cancer, by helping patients regain physical strength and endurance. In addition, new laws, such as Direct Access, allow patients to see a therapist directly for evaluation, thus eliminating time and speeding up the healing process - truly helping the patient to take back their body
The majority of PRS patients suffer from pain and/or loss of function with a certain part of the body, therefore not being able to perform some physical function or activity. "Patients come to PRS to succeed at doing something that they are not presently able to do: move," shares Bill. "Our licensed, accomplished therapists care for patients with the goal of helping them achieve, and maintain, an active lifestyle. We treat individuals for: arthritis; back, shoulder and neck injuries; carpal tunnel; hand therapy; heel spurs; muscular pain; osteoporosis; post-operative rehab; sprains, strains and fractures; sports injuries; total joint replacements; workmans' comp. injuries; deconditioning following diseases such as cancer; and neurological disorders."
PRS therapists are licensed and practice the latest standards of care. They are trained to evaluate your musculoskeletal problem and design a treatment program tailored to meet the specific problems identified. "We are extremely proud of our entire staff," shares Mary. "Everyone in our facility works as a team to make our patients' experience a positive one."
"We are very gratified that we have been able to offer community-based care to North Hills residents for all of these years," continues Bill. "We've established and nurtured our relationships with our patients in order to best meet their needs. It's a great feeling to go to work every day knowing you are making a difference."
PRS is your community resource
Every Wednesday between noon and 4pm, PRS is hosting "Ask-A-Therapist" - an opportunity to stop in, tour the facility, and meet the staff. Participants are also encouraged to ask the licensed therapists questions, free of charge.
